When one of Mexico's largest telecom providers, Unefon, looked to launch 3G wireless services to its customers, it turned to the experience of partners Bridgewater Systems and Nortel Networks. After upgrading its TDMA network to Nortel Networks' CDMA2000 1X network, Unefon, whose business consisted primarily of prepaid voice subscriptions, licensed Bridgewater Systems' solution for prepaid data services. With Bridgewater Systems providing the prepaid solutions for subscriber access, service management, provisioning and mediation capabilities and Nortel Networks providing the CDMA2000 1X network elements, Unefon was able to quickly develop one of the first prepaid 3G wireless services in the Americas.
