Speciality Retail Group (SRG) is a men's apparel retailer operating some 80 stores across the UK and Ireland with head offices and distribution centre based at Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. The SRG finance team decided to take a completely fresh look at budgeting in the knowledge that spreadsheets are not the best planning tool for an expanding business that was intent on improving visibility and participation. It was at that point Inca, who were promoting Cognos Planning as a way to move away from spreadsheet budgeting and forecasting, contacted SRG. Having examined the market with the support of a specialist firm, the final conclusion was that Inca provided the best product with Cognos.
