Maxima Medisch Centrum was created by combining St Joseph Hospital in Veldhoven with Diaconessenhuis (Hospital) in Eindhoven thus forming one of the largest teaching medical centres in The Netherlands with 865 beds and 3500 employees. The hospital needed to replace its 11-year old Nortel Networks SL1 PABX system and wanted to ensure that the investment it made today would grow and scale easily, and allow the adoption of future technologies without major overhaul - in other words it wanted a 'future-proof' solution. Maxima Medisch chose Nortel Networks for voice communications system based on the flexibility and functionality of the Succession IP-enabled Meridian 1 business communications system, its past positive experiences with Nortel Networks, and the smooth and cost-effective migration path from the existing SL 1 PABX.
