Klein Independent School District (ISD): Optical Network Ensures a Bright Future for Growing School District

Klein ISD is a sprawling suburban school district that covers 87.5 square miles of north Harris County, Texas. Klein ISD needed to upgrade a 32-site Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) whose voice system was producing an annual telephone bill of over $500,000 and whose data system was running at 75% to 90% capacity. Klein ISD implemented an IP-based, converged voice-and-data network with a Gigabit Ethernet core, fiber optic links between sites, and end-to-end QoS.
