Founded in 1973, Karmac first made its name with the karto system: a microfilm-based, lending system for libraries and microfilm cameras. Karmac wanted a modern, innovative telephone system in order to be competitive in the marketplace. After evaluating several proposals from KPN, Karmac chose the Nortel Networks Succession 1000, a next-generation IP communication server providing all the benefits of a converged network plus advanced applications and telephony features. Cost savings on the cable infrastructure and leased lines were just the beginning. Karmac also anticipates a healthy reduction in telephone usage costs.
