As the third-largest cable TV provider in the nation, Cox Communications, Inc., is well known for its dependable, high-capacity broadband delivery network. The Cox Las Vegas IT department faced the unappealing possibility of replacing the array of aging, five-year-old mobile devices used by its FSRs to open, record, and close work orders. The Cox Las Vegas IT team began an investigation of alternative mobile computing solutions. Impressed by Dell's very competitive notebook price point compared to that of most tablet-style units in addition to high scores for reliability, the Cox IT team ran various informal tests and then chose to initially deploy Dell Latitude C600 series and Dell Latitude D600 series notebooks to more than 180 FSRs in the Las Vegas region.
