No matter how good the supply chain alignment with overall business, or how good the overall supply chain optimisation, every supply chain needs to be improved everyday. This is because of two reasons. Most supply chain strategy setting and optimisation is based on models built to simulate reality. By necessity some details have to be ignored during model building for sake of expediency. However, this detail could be important in some instances, and thus needs to be taken into account during implementation at local level. The key is to know which details needs change in supply chain configuration and to what degree.
