When the guided missile cruiser USS TICONDEROGA first operated with a battle group, its new technology AEGIS combat system was found to be successfully interoperable with fleet tactical data systems. This achievement marked the first time that a new class of ship entered service with its combat systems already interoperable. Northrop Grumman Information Technology (IT) developed the data link test systems and supported the testing and training that made this achievement possible.
