Public key cryptography is an enabling security technology for both business and personal computer applications. As the use of public key cryptography in commercial and government applications has increased, international standards have been developed to specify its use. This paper specifies the Application Programming Interface (API) for the Certificate Management library. It describes the functions, data types, and classes available to an application requiring certificate services as specified in ITU-T Recommendation X.509 (03/2000). This library's services include Abstract Syntax Notation One (ASN.1) encoding and decoding and X.509 validation of certificates and certification paths.
