In Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1, Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) is disabled by default. This paper provides details about how to enable ICF by creating a custom ICF component, adding the custom component to a configuration, and then deploying and testing the run-time image. This paper is written for Microsoft partners who develop and deploy Windows XP Embedded images to networked devices, and it assumes a proficiency in using Microsoft Windows Embedded Studio (Component Designer, Component Database Manager, and Target Designer).
