The device discovery time of Bluetooth is prohibitively long. This may significantly impact many mobile applications. This paper analyzes the frequency-matching delay of Bluetooth for both versions V1.1 and V1.2. The paper then proposes three schemes to speed up the device discovery procedure of Bluetooth. The result is a significant reduction of average frequency-matching time from 23.55 seconds to 11.38 seconds.
