When Arxceo Corp. was founded over a year ago on a promising idea for a network security product, the prototype was running on Linux. Arxceo determined Linux could not provide the scalable platform support, professional coding standards, and access to thousands of tested device drivers it needed for long-term success. So, it chose Microsoft Windows XP Embedded as its operating system for the new device. The development team ported the Linux prototype to Microsoft Windows XP Professional and further developed the product, knowing that the end goal was to port the device to Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 2 - a full-featured component-based version of Windows XP Professional.
