Using the CDMA systems in satellite communications especially in LEO satellites is rapidly growing. This is due to advantage of spread spectrum techniques used in CDMA systems and their higher capacity in compare to FDMA and TDMA systems. Calculation of capacity in CDMA is usually done with the consideration of urban cellular system conditions. However, multi-path propagation, shadowing, BER and other parameters in satellite communications are different in compare to urban cellular systems. Therefore, it is not valid to use the same values which are usually used in cellular systems for the above parameters in capacity calculation for satellite communication systems.
