Montreal-based IPEX Inc. conducts its integrated thermoplastic piping systems manufacturing, sales, and distribution at more than 35 locations across North America. The company's IT staff needed to replace more than 250 desktops at dispersed sites. They were looking for ways to drive down costs - while simplifying maintenance and improving service to customers. Enjoying expansive growth since the 1980s, IPEX was faced with a lot of networked desktop computers by late 2002 - and a distributed infrastructure that was increasingly difficult to manage. After evaluating options, IPEX chose a centralized Citrix MetaFrame XP solution on an HP ProLiant DL360 platform, which provides ongoing administrative advantages and opportunities for considerable cost savings, plus a significant boost in overall performance.
