LandAmerica needed a better e-mail solution for its more than 12,000 workers and 800 offices. The company identified mobility, e-mail database management, and bandwidth conservation as major issues. After considering its options, LandAmerica decided that the clear solution was one based on the Microsoft® Exchange Server 2003 communication and collaboration server running on the Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 operating system, and Microsoft Office Outlook® 2003 running on Windows® XP Professional and Windows 2000 Professional. Through the company's implementation of Exchange Server 2003, the LandAmerica IT staff met specific, business-driven challenges and delivered the mobility support the company's operations demanded. The company found particular value in the solution's database management features and technologies, which provide mobile e-mail solutions that synchronize with the e-mail on a user's desktop computer.
