Schindler Elevator Corporation is the world's largest escalator manufacturer and the second largest elevator manufacturer. Schindler Elevator Corporation needed to upgrade its existing FieldLink system, which ran on an RF network. After testing three major operator networks, Schindler found a partner in Verizon Wireless. Rather than carry a mobile phone, a diagnostic tool and a hand-held PC, each of Schindler's service technicians use a single device - a Samsung SPH-i700 or Siemens SX56 wireless phone running Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition.
