Singapore aims to be a place where the 21st century feels like home. Singaporeans are probably one of the most 'wired' people in Asia, running at the forefront of technology in the 21st century. As at the end of year 2000, some 42 percent of Singaporeans have access to the Internet, and about 59 percent of households in the country own a personal computer. To enhance the delivery of public services and to cater to this fast-growing population of Internet savvy citizens, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has joined hands with the Republic's Ministry of Finance (MOF) and other government agencies to develop a public service portal - eCitizen at www.eCitizen.gov.sg.
