With growing volumes of patient-related data being processed and stored on computers, ICT has come to play a key role in the UK's National Health Service (NHS). Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust was faced with the need to process and store growing volumes of patient-related data. To take advantage of new developments in ICT, the trust needed a network that offered enhanced bandwidth and flexibility. The trust implemented a new network based on HP ProCurve instead of Cisco products. HP helped to develop a resilient network design that would support 24x7 operation, with the trust's own team assuming responsibility for implementation.
