Hong Kong has a love affair with mobile technology - the city boasts a 117 percent penetration rate, with 7.4 million mobile subscribers for a total population of 6.8 million. Their challenge was to maintain leadership position in the Hong Kong mobile communications market by: achieving competitive differentiation by being the first to roll out 3G mobile services, accommodating the capabilities of the latest 3G handsets by providing high-quality, high-speed multimedia services, meeting high customer expectations for quality of service despite the challenging Hong Kong terrain. The solution was to use HP ProLiant Servers, Vidiator VeeAdapt Transcoding Solution and Vidiator VeeStream Streaming Media Solution.
