When the Health Boards Executive (HeBE) mandated that a system should be in place for the automatic transfer of patient lab results to GPs, the North Western Health Board (NWHB) in Ireland approached HP to design and implement an effective messaging system. HP Services, working closely with Microsoft, deployed a solution based on Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002 and Microsoft SQL Server 2000. The new solution provides GPs with same-day access to patient lab results, eliminating the need for time-consuming administration postal communications. With faster and more efficient processes, hospitals and GPs avoid duplication of effort and can concentrate on providing patient care rather than dealing with paperwork.
