Sprint is one of the giants in the telecommunications industry. Faced with the need to process a huge and growing workload - more than 100 different applications, nearly 20 million mail pieces a month, and some applications growing in excess of 40% per year - Sprint urgently needed the capability to process anything, anywhere. Sprint focused first on print hardware and settled on Oce and IBM high-speed printers, which were compatible with each other as well as Sprint's roll-fed workload. On the finishing side, Sprint chose a unique "partnership" with Pitney Bowes Document Factory Solutions that centered on creating a three-site network of nearly two dozen 8 Series Intelligent Inserting Systems, each with the advanced Direct Connect filed-based processing control system for assured mail piece integrity.
