A new scripting facility from VMware, the Virtual Infrastructure SDK Package, enables programs written in C#, Java and other popular languages to access information about VMware ESX Server hosts managed by VMware VirtualCenter and to manipulate these servers and the virtual machines that run on these servers. In this paper, this facility is combined with Dell's OpenManage to demonstrate a powerful fault tolerance capability.
