Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) designs, develops, manufactures and markets high-performance, high-bandwidth silicon solutions for the world's optical networks. Providing content on its expanding network of sites, as well as increasing the company's ability to be more effectively involved with its customers via the Web, became significant business challenges for AMCC. After an analysis of the various content management solutions, AMCC selected the Documentum platform to manage all of their enterprise content management needs. Sun Microsystems hardware and software, coupled with the Documentum's ECM platform, have provided a competitive advantage for AMCC by expanding the company's ability to be more effectively involved in the "design chain," as opposed to just the supply chain of its customers.
