Headquartered in The Hague, KPN is the dominant telecommunications operator in the Netherlands, and the third largest mobile operator in Germany and Belgium. Recently, KPN noticed that small-to-medium enterprises were exchanging traditional voice services with higher-speed voice and data connections. KPN's service model had little to offer small-to-medium enterprises that required four to 16 channels. To close this service gap, KPN needed a broadband solution that could supply high-bandwidth, high-quality voice and data services throughout the Netherlands. By partnering with Lucent, KPN could supplement its own expertise with Lucent Worldwide Services' vast experience in integrating voice and data technologies in multivendor environments.
