Australia is booming, and so is the growth within its eight international airports. And that means unprecedented security challenges, especially in light of Australia's Aviation Security Act mandating that all bags must be tracked and accounted for - in almost real-time. In response, Australia's airports and ground handling companies - working with Unisys - have created a new passenger Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS). Managed by the Board of Airline Representatives Australia (BARA) under a five- year, AUD$37 million contract, the system has been adopted by 38 airlines carrying more than 95 percent of Australia's international passenger traffic.
