Kvaerner Power Division, a unit of Norway's Aker-Kvaerner Group, is famous for making some the world's largest boilers. To keep growing profitably, executives knew they needed to modernize Charlotte's financial operation, which relied too heavily on labor-intensive processes that kept overhead high and slowed cash flow. Kvaerner Power Inc. decided to take a new approach to the problem. Executives wanted a solution that would deliver positive returns quickly yet didn't impose significant new cost burdens. The solution also had to be reliable and easy to operate so it wouldn't distract the company from its main business. Oracle E-Business Suite Outsourcing was the answer. It gave Kvaerner access to Oracle E-Business Suite and its tightly integrated applications for automating finances, order fulfillment, inventory and project management.
