Procurement is a business area common to all Government Departments and Agencies (GDAs); to some extent it impacts all staff, as everyone needs goods and services to support them in their daily jobs (from stationery to complex consultancy). Traditionally, Procurement has suffered a low business profile - especially in the public sector. This is now changing as more and more GDAs realise that without an efficient and professional procurement process and function they will not be able to deliver core business from their ever decreasing budgets and staff numbers.
