DTUP, like all other parts of the South Australian government, was under increasing pressure to make efficiency gains and achieve significant cost reductions as well as to establish a performance culture throughout the organization. As part of the procurement initiative, several key issues were identified for resolution in the areas of process improvement, governance and supplier contract management. DTUP initially engaged IBM Business Consulting Services to undertake a strategic review of the procurement function of the Transport Services agency and outline a high-level business case for transforming the procurement role within the Department. IBM Business Consulting Services was then engaged to implement the i2 e-procurement package for DTUP.
