The purpose of the study presented in this paper was to identify possible factors that affect faculty attitudes toward distance education. Results indicated a significant difference in attitude among those who had taught distance courses and those who had not, leading to the conclusion that experience breeds acceptance. The primary factors inhibiting faculty participation in distance teaching were concern for course quality and workload.
