Today there are many documents and forms of personal identification required for the conduct of business and everyday life. Drivers' licenses, passports, badges and swipe tags for entry into proprietary buildings, are typical forms of identification and access permits. Unfortunately, many of these forms of personal identification are stolen or misused to gain illegal entry or to access buildings without the knowledge of the legal owners. Providing badges and personal security documents that are impossible to copy, counterfeit or divert and are useless if stolen has been a major challenge. Recently there has been a major focus on the use of biometric scanning for identification.
