The international Iveco Group ("Iveco") is continually expanding, through both acquisition and the extension of its product base, and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Fiat Group ("Fiat"). Iveco sought a solid IT partner with a widespread network and uniform global service offering to fulfill its ambition of strengthening its global presence. Iveco needed a network that was capable of separately handling the requirements of both of its bus divisions. Equant's IP networks support both IT and communications platforms so that customers may leverage their existing telephony assets and tactical hardware cost advantages, as well as deploy IP technology to suit their corporate strategy. In response to Iveco's need, Equant proposed an MPLS-based IP VPN network solution that would allow Iveco to create a true VPN offering both security and reliability. The solution provided remote Local Area Networks (LANs) with connectivity to every other LAN in the group belonging to the same specified VPN, while preventing connection to LANs outside of the Iveco-defined VPN.
