The scope of this paper is intended to expand the frontiers of the state of the art biometric technology performance for their effective widespread deployment. This paper explores the fundamental roadblocks for widespread adoption of biometrics as a means of automatic person identification: effective and efficient pattern recognition; ensuring system integrity, system application integrity and return on investment.
