The modern enterprise competes on the strength of its transparency, agility, integration, and IT savings. This paper demonstrates that one core piece is critical to all four of these high level business aims - the foundation of a well-defined common business language - commonly referred to as "One Language." The core elements of One Language are the choice of a common business language, the ability to catalog an enterprise's physical IT systems, and the process of relating physical IT systems (and their physical data languages) to a common business language.
