The duties of the Fire Department of New York City (FDNY) include fire fighting and prevention and public fire safety education. FDNY needed to capture digital images of major fire and emergency incidents and archive those images along with presentations and video clips in an easily accessible database that is available to FDNY investigative, training and public information personnel. FDNY used digital cameras, database solutions and projectors - including several HP vp6120 digital projectors - to capture, store and display images of FDNY incidents and equipment. New imaging technology allows the FDNY Photo Unit to quickly and cost-effectively capture and store pictures of major fires and other incidents.
