This paper presents a method to take the contribution of circuitry type correctly into account in new assessments of on-chip wirelength distribution models for ULSI chips. Improved comparisons of model estimates with measurements are obtained for the majority of ASIC-like control logic designs in a high performance microprocessor. The results show that, after properly accounting for circuitry type, the model distributions exhibit a tighter and improved spread compared with previous work.
