Xcel Energy is the fourth largest combined electric and natural gas utility in the U.S. After combining its corporate legacy systems at the end of the merger in 2000, Xcel Energy needed a faster, more flexible ERP solution to consolidate its financials. An Xcel Energy evaluation team including representatives from various business areas, IT, and accounting ran a rigorous, competitive selection process. ERP solutions from six vendors were analyzed, and the PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne solution received the highest scores and the most votes from the selection team. This implementation gave fast, accurate company-wide financial tracking and reporting.
