This paper studies the impact of the propagation environment on the performance of space-frequency coded broadband OFDM systems. In particular, the paper derives the error-rate performance of space-frequency codes in the presence of transmit and receive correlation, and quantifies the maximum achievable diversity order and coding gain as a function of the propagation parameters.
