The mobile landscape has changed considerably since Vanco's first White Paper on the future of mobile data was published in 2000. The doubts expressed then about the timetable for and the successful introduction of 2.5 and 3G technologies have proved well-founded. Although General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is available from three of the main four UK network operators, take-up is very low. Even now, fundamental issues like roaming are only just being addressed.
