Oracle's Standby database and EMC's SRDF create a cost-effective disaster recovery environment that offers an extremely high level of data protection. This combination proves an effective tool in reducing planned downtime as it facilitates quick and smooth switchover from standby site to the primary site, without loss of transactions or a reset logs operation. The initial failover, however, does require a resetlogs operation and subsequently, a new Standby/backup needs to be instantiated.
