FuelQuest, Inc. develops and hosts web-based supply chain management and tax automation technologies for suppliers, buyers, and distributors of petroleum products. FuelQuest software applications use the Internet to connect diverse, proprietary systems, and streamline and automate the fuel and refined products procurement and supply chain for FuelQuest customers. Even a few minutes of downtime could result in huge costs for customers, so the network would have to be very reliable, very robust, and very secure. FuelQuest's executive and IT teams decided to build their solution-and their business-on an end-to-end Cisco network infrastructure. Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, virtual private network (VPN) appliances, and IP telephony technologies were used.
