CA has chosen to distribute Ingres as an Open Source product and has identified clear opportunities for the product both as a standard RDBMS and as an enterprise level product. It has also identified three active application markets for Ingres in content management, document management and Java based enterprise development. In Baroudi Bloor's view CA has a strong understanding of the commercial possibilities of Open Source and is moving to capitalize on this with Ingres.
