For the San Diego Opera cost restrictions and technical limitations meant that the street banners - as well as the banners that hang in the lobby of the theater as decoration and sponsor acknowledgment - were little more than text and simple graphics on a solid background. ENCAD offered to donate a number of large banners as a way of demonstrating their technology while making a very positive contribution to the community. And the technology enabled them to start including photographs in the banners and print them at such a high resolution that they look terrific whether you're a block away or just a few yards.
