When you build your own RSS aggregation, you know something about each source; when an aggregated service comes from thousands of sources you've never seen, there's an increased loss of context. It takes a while to realize that Google News items from The Register should be read differently than items from, say, The Washington Post or Reuters (and, if you don't know the papers, to realize that Washington Times stories must be read differently than Post stories). But if you have selected an RSS feed from The Register for your aggregator, you probably know what to expect.
