Systems engineers are under ever-greater pressure to deliver increasingly complex systems. Systems engineers need better techniques for analyzing complex problems and for describing the complex systems that solve these problems. This paper discusses how UML 2.0 can be used to address some of the issues faced by systems engineers. The paper explores techniques to specify system architectures, interfaces and behavior, using UML 2.0 examples.
