This paper is delivered by the urgency that America succeed in its efforts to secure the homeland and sustain our national values. In households and communities, in State capitols and the nation's capitol, in the workrooms and boardrooms of businesses, and on the battlefield, America seeks its destiny in the post-9/11 era. A few years back, the nation was viciously attacked. The enemies sought to undermine the resolve and indomitable spirit that has been the cornerstone of the United States since its founding. They failed. Today, they remain a nation united in a common purpose. People are committed to a global effort to defeat terrorism.
