Comic Relief is an organization established to raise funds for the poorest and most vulnerable people in the United Kingdom and Africa. It wanted to maximize funds raised online by Red Nose Day activities, ensure complete security for electronic transactions, allow thousands of people to access Web site simultaneously, deliver high availability and minimize any loss of performance, scale to meet demand during peak times and ensure no loss of data in the event of equipment failure. The solutions were Real Application Clusters, Oracle9i Application Server and Oracle9i Database. Its high availability and fault-tolerant infrastructure met all the requirements for the system.
