The number of stored value offerings over the last five-to-seven years has soared as merchants, banks, and transaction processors roll out gift card, loyalty card, and Visa/MasterCard-branded pre-paid card programs. This increased competition has led to a trend toward in-sourcing - companies are bringing their ASP-provided stored value applications in-house in order to gain the functional control they need to reduce costs and succeed in the marketplace.
