The United States Air Force needed to provide commanders in the field and Global Hawk control personnel the ability to instantly setup and tear down point-to-point conversations and multi-point conferences to communicate mission-critical data obtained from Global Hawk to the people who need it most. With the emphasis on speed, survivability and scalability a Voice-over-IP (VoIP) solution was the only answer. Together with Northrop Grumman the Air Force deployed a WAVE system in under 24 hours that tied together their analog back-end systems, IP telephony phone system, and Global Hawk communications infrastructure; providing a complete solution that fit their needs perfectly. The benefits were survivability, scalability, instant conferences, integration and deployment.
