Before implementing server-based computing with Neoware thin client appliances and Citrix Metaframe, the Constabulary was experiencing challenges with the Novell Netware system as the installed base grew and became more diverse and installing new applications was difficult and time consuming. The Northern Constabulary police force in the UK chose to deploy Neoware thin client appliances. This deployment has given the benefits of centralized management and ability for support staff to control desktops remotely. Performance has increased dramatically and supports costs have been reduced to such a level that the Constabulary have been able to fund an upgrade from traditional CRT monitors to flat-screen TFT monitors.
