Parrs Wood Technology College developed a strategy to allow greater ICT access to its students, parents and the whole community. The school took a somewhat unusual move in basing their infrastructure on the Linux operating system and installing powerful Citrix-based servers. There are about 900 computers in school comprising a mixture of desktop PCs (thin clients and full clients) and laptops, although as teachers grow more confident, there has been an increasing preference for whole class sets of laptops on trolleys over desktop PCs in IT suites.
